How Quilt Crowdfunding started
A Calgary respirologist, Dr. Mike Braganza, diagnosed a patient with asthma. The meds were too expensive, the prescription went unfilled—and the patient landed in hospital.
Dr. Braganza teamed up with Darren, a software engineer. They spent two years building and testing a new approach to stop cost from blocking care.
In the first year, Quilt raised $10,000 and closed over 20 campaigns, establishing itself as a trusted micro-crowdfunding platform for local services.
With our growing needs and the need to expand and grow, we brought on Trupti Naik as our new co-founder. She came on board as our expert in Digital Transformation Practices, Product, Growth and User Experience for fundraisers. Trupti's expertise in these areas has been instrumental in enhancing our platform's functionality and user experience, helping us scale to reach more communities across Canada and ensuring that every fundraiser reaches its full potential.
